DIY: Dry Shampoo

Let’s face it, we all know that buying store-bought dry shampoo can become costly and we can go through those cans every 3-4 weeks! The ingredients are typically not the best for ourselves and the environment and typically contain toxic alcohols.

Did you know that excess use of dry shampoos that contain alcohol can lead to long-term hair and scalp damage? When this type of dry shampoo is used too often, it can cause dandruff, dryness and blocked pores. No good, so let’s make our own! It’s not only super easy, but it will save you money and provide nourishment and care to your hair!

• Rosemary helps to unclog scalp pores, balances the Ph of your hair and promotes growth.

• Cedarwood helps provide nourishment and strength to your hair follicles.

• Lavender supports and nourishes growth and smells so good on your hair!

• Arrowroot powder all natural and helps soak uo the excess oil!

Here’s how to make it

Ingredients:

For blonde/gray

  • 1/4 arrowroot powder

  • 2 drops Lavender oil

  • 2 drops Rosemary oil

  • 2 drops Cedarwood oil

For brunette/black

  • 3 tablespoons arrowroot powder

  • 2 tablespoons cocoa powder

  • 3 drops Lavender oil

  • 2 drops Rosemary oil

  • 2 drops Cedarwood oil

Combine all ingredients in a food processor and mix until fully combined. Put mixed dry shampoo into container and brush onto greasy hair with a chunky makeup brush. You can also order containers off amazon with holes on the top to sprinkle onto your hair, or use a recycled spice jar!

One batch of this DIY Dry Shampoo will last typically four months!!! One bottle of store bought dry shampoo typically about 3-4 weeks. What a win!
